It’s Not About the Hair

Recently, we had a caller on our weekly live radio show, WiseGals Radio, that had a very unique yet simple question. It was not your typical life altering-deeply profound query. Patty called with a simple request “What do I need to do to find a good haircut?”, as she had had a series of bad do’s.  This is what one might call a gateway question; an entry that leads to a deeper internal truth. After choosing her cards and having a discussion about them, the truth was revealed that she was craving a new direction in her life after having gone through several recent life changes while also struggling a bit with her self-image.  The cards gently revealed to her a bigger picture and perspective on the question; they mirrored the energy that was behind a series of bad haircuts and the real reason that she longed for an amazing cut. The haircut was a metaphor and the cards clarified this. The cards asked her to accept and love herself in the now and to be comfortable in the fuzzy unknowns. Remaining open and curious to new possibilities was offering Patty a new way to create synchronicities to find the perfect hairdresser, and also for new creative experiences and expressions.

Can a selection of cards do all of that? Well yes they can…at least with the WisePlay system, as that is what we designed them for.  Patty expressed how the cards completely resonated with her current situation, and her true desires. She was excited to rediscover the empowered art director of her own life’s expression in a co-creative process. Her very last card, titled Beauty was also asking her to feel beautiful no matter the cut, and to look for beauty in all that she can – as we attract what we are emitting and focused on. Let’s face it… who doesn’t want an amazing haircut!?

We use this example because sometimes we need a little help getting out of our own way. We all see things, situations, and people through your own filters and beliefs. If you could imagine that every experience that you have had from birth until now are the powerful elements that make up the story of you, you can begin to see that this has also shaped your unique perspective. This is not necessarily a bad thing unless you notice things may not be unfolding the way you truly want them to materialize, because this wonderful, and sometimes maddening movie of life, keeps on going and changing.

This may show up for you as feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or perhaps even directionless in certain areas of your life. You could be great at your chosen career, but could use a tune up in the relationship department. Maybe you rock it at the gym and are super healthy, but you can’t seem to figure out how to move through your life as it pertains to your career. Sometimes it manifests itself by feeling, well.…blah! Without any real understanding of why or how to shift out of this blasé emotional party of one, you continue on this loop-de-loop journey to nowhere.

Life transitions can rock your confidence and direction too, like Patty discovered…often the truth is deeply buried behind old filters/beliefs or carefully guarded by our, always-on-duty and ready to protect – subconscious mind. In other cases, the truth may be just below the surface, ready to be birthed with a new lens of compassion and self-acceptance, allowing for a bit of much needed momentum.

With this in mind, we designed a daily system that would allow the user to reveal this invaluable inside-intel, so that they may come from a place of knowledge, empowerment and awareness right from the start of each morning! Unlike a typical oracle deck, The WisePlay system focuses on the energies of your day; both internally and externally or individually and collectively. We use a mixture of written definitions and animal/nature symbolism (to keep it light and fun). In this system you are the star of all 5 categories within the deck. Each category consists of characters and qualities that most often make up the “Play of You”. Our intention was to maintain an essence of fun while waking up to the real deal and to fall in love with you… even those discarded parts! Believe it or not, unraveling the mystery of you can actually be enlightening AND joyful! Using the system is like getting the answers to the quiz ahead of time! It is inside intel… Once you understand what you may be potentially dealing with you are empowered to make new choices and decisions that lead to what it is that you ultimately want to experience. It’s like magic, but the magic comes from within YOU!

Tools of awareness (like the WisePlay system, or some other oracle cards, astrology etc.) are very effective at providing the illumination when you run up against your own personal walls of resistance and tend to shine a light where habits and self-judgment may be skewing your view. You are the author of your own story, and like Patty discovered, sometimes our little annoyances point to bigger themes that we simply are not aware of, and we need a little help to discover the whole picture.  Sometimes a bad haircut is just a bad haircut…or is it?  Thank the heavens your hair grows back, so you have another opportunity to discover even with a bad cut that you are still a wonder… it isn’t about the hair! Though we are never going to say magnificent hair doesn’t help!
