Weekly Overview for Oct Oct 5th-11th

Paging Lady Chatterley! Romantic Venus joins lusty Mars in Virgo from Thursday until November 8. Press pause on the sexting and dirty Snapchats and embrace the spirit of modesty. Love could get downright Victorian for the next four weeks! Of course, in that bygone era when showing even a hint of an ankle was considered a disgrace, there was plenty of scandal going on behind the heavy chamber doors! So no need to take a vow of celibacy. Just remember: What happens in the boudoir should stay in the boudoir while Virgo is directing our love scenes. That which is crass, “inappropriate,” or louche will not be in fashion during this monthlong phase. Stick to the classics, from decor to wardrobing—Venus is the celestial stylist, after all. While you’re at it, tap Venus in Virgo’s “all natural” vibes to restore your lit-from-within glow. Fresh air, fresh food, fresh experiences—and maybe even a fresh-faced #iwokeuplikethis beauty scheme—are the easy recipes for success.

Scrambled signals begone! On Friday the 9th, messenger Mercury wakes up from its three week retrograde. The communication breakdowns, burning bridges and strained relationships have been plentiful since Mercury shifted into reverse on September 17. It didn’t help matters that this transit took place in Libra, the sign associated with relationships and contracts. Should you stay or should you go? With Mercury correcting its course the answer will soon become clear. From Friday until November 1, Mercury powers forward in Libra, bringing positive developments for most relationships. It’s time to bring back the love—or at least extend the olive branches and semi-awkward hugs. Exes may have appeared in record number during this Mercury retrograde. Will the sequel have staying power or was it just a lapse in judgment? See what shakes out over the next three weeks. The law is Libra’s domain so go ahead and sign those contracts, get the marriage certificate or negotiate new business deals. But note that Mercury retrograde’s shadow doesn’t fully clear until October 25, so that’s when we may really start to feel the progress and developments kicking in.

The week ends with a tightrope act when the bold, expressive Libra Sun directly opposes radical, unconventional Uranus in Aries on Sunday the 11th. This once-a-year event rouses our revolutionary spirits and can even make us rebel against relationships that have grown restrictive or claustrophobic. Pack away the monogrammed towels and matching outfits—and break down that white-picket fence while you’re at it! Melding into an amorphous couple-blob will dull the sparks in any pairing, whether for business, pleasure, or a creative collaboration. The Sun-Uranus opposition wants our individuality to shine as we encourage our partners to bring forth their strengths as well. Cooperative co-existence can also mean hanging on to a sense of self. According to Mating In Captivity author Esther Perel, autonomy fuels eroticism. (Word.) Temper, temper: If we’ve sacrificed too much of ourselves to keep the peace, lightning bolts of anger could strike. Beware the inner brat! Pushing a “my way or the highway” agenda could put our relationships on the rocks this weekend. Instead of harping on what’s wrong, strive for solutions—the more creative and out-of-the-box, the better!
