3 Things to Know Before Success Can Be Yours

It was the last part of 2002 but I remember it like it was yesterday.

I was flipping through the pages of a complimentary waiting room magazine.

Bored by its content, I went straight to the back, started browsing the classifieds and there it was — the ad that changed the course of my life forever.

Moms Helping Moms Work From Home. No Experience Required. Computer/Phone needed. Go to www.thiswebsite.com

“Hmmm, sounds interesting”, I thought. “I don’t have any experience but I have a computer and phone, so why not?” I folded up the magazine, put it in my purse and took it home.

As a stay home mom with three kids under seven years old, I’m sure you can imagine, a couple of days had passed before I remembered the magazine in my purse.

Once I took it out, my interest was piqued again.

I turned immediately to the classified ad, ran upstairs to my computer and went directly to the website to see how this could be possible — Moms Helping Moms Work From Home.

Found the website, filled out the form and a day later, I received a call from a woman named Dawn.

It took me a minute before I remembered the form I had filled out as the reason for her call.

Her voice was pleasant as she explained quickly she was just calling to set up a time with me to listen to a 45 minute call that would cover all the details of her ad.

We agreed on a time. When she called for our phone appointment — again it took me a minute before I remembered.
Can you tell I had no clue what was going on?

Dawn mentioned she would be dialing us into a conference line so I could hear her business partners explain how this all worked.

This was a first for me. Conference line, what was that?

Before I knew it, I was on a line and heard a lot of different voices.

Women introducing other women, hearing beeps and a lot of echoes. I was quite confused with all this.

Then all the sudden the lines got quiet and two women started talking.

I listened haphazardly to how it all worked and didn’t understand what was going on.

All I caught was, you sign up for $29, switch where you shop, send others to your website and make money from home.

Sounded simple enough — so I was in.

The question was, in to what? What had I signed on the dotted line for?

Come to find out, I had just been introduced to the wonderful world of network marketing.

Had I REALLY known what I was getting involved with — a lot of blood, sweat and tears — I might have quit before I ever started.

But the truth is — something deep, deep down inside made me stay and overcome all my obstacles.

From fear of the phone to no business experience, a very small warm circle to limited computer skills. From no upline support to spending thousands of dollars on marketing and mindset education plus a small fortune on advertising and leads.

I made it work. All of it and then some.

In fact here are a few things I went on to accomplish:

  • A documented 16 months of consecutively enrolling 4 or more people a month into my business generating four figures monthly. (2004)
  • New NWM company I immediately sponsored 3 people into at $1,500 a pop. (2006)
  • Made my first four figure affiliate sale. (2009)
  • Creator of a Video Editing for PC Users online course, a Keywords Made Simple online course and an Online Basic Tools course for Home & Small Business Owners (2011)
  • Cracked the First Page of Google Secret and secured six spots for our own business. (2011)
  • Became a published writer for a monthly business magazine with a readership of over 8.5 million. (2011)

My point in sharing all of this with you?

No matter what my accomplishments were or how much money I made — I didn’t feel successful — inside.

In fact, I felt like a fraud that was unworthy of anything.

shooooHence, I was on a constant treadmill looking for the next…mentor to make me better, course to tell me the secret. Shiny object to make it work, system to do it for me, company with the right compensation plan.

The next whatever to make me feel successful.

Then one day, I had a light bulb moment.

What I realized was…

Wherever I went, there I was. I could have easily been a poster child for Albert Einstein’s definition of INSANITY.

“Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

But within that realization what I discovered were the three things to know before success can be yours in this lifetime.

  1. You need to know your worth.
  2. You are the only thing holding you back.
  3. You really need to understand 1 & 2.

And you might be thinking — that is great Shelly but what does that mean?

What it means is — until you remember who you really are — success, whether it be personally or professionally, will be as elusive as Big Foot.

And the treadmill you’re on — searching for it — will be a never-ending ordeal until you make the decision to stop it. Just like I did.

Today, because I was able to fully embody and understand those three things, plus remember who I AM…

Not only have I have gone on to create five figure sales weeks, I have a closing ratio of 1 out of every 2.68 people I speak to for a high ticket coaching certification course I sell and have launched my own International Empowerment Coaching business but more importantly — I felt the “success” inside before those things ever happened, which is why they happened…make sense?
