Angel Astrology 101

Modern-Day Astrology

Today, if you consult an astrologer, you will be asked the time, date, and place of your birth. Based on this information, the astrologer will note where the planets were on the day you were born. This person will also know whether the planets were making beautiful music together or clashing. This is called natal astrology.

It may be that until now, all you’ve known about astrology is what you’ve read in newspapers and magazines. This is called solar astrology, as it simply looks at your Sun, which represents your ego. This type of astrology is very much a “quick fix,” compared to having your entire chart examined. Even so, there’s nothing inherently wrong with it.

Columns in newspapers and magazines are often the first initiation into astrology for many people.

This type of astrology is very accessible and can be an excellent vehicle for Divine messages from the cosmos. In fact, newspaper or media astrology got a bad rap because in the 20th century, these columns were often written by the office intern who also made the coffee! They had nothing at all to do with real astrology. Times have changed, though, and today the majority of columns published in the media have qualified astrologers behind them.

Many modern leaders, including former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and France’s presidents Jacques Chirac and François Mitterand, had astrologers on their teams.

Many astrologers believe that President Barack Obama has an astrologer on-site, since so many of his pronouncements and actions have been made at propitious moments, astrologically speaking.

However, you might be interested to know that President Obama’s first inauguration took place at a very inauspicious moment.

As he was sworn in, the Moon was Void of Course (meaning that the Moon had made its last major planetary connection before changing signs). It’s said that whatever happens when the Moon is Void of Course bears no fruit. As you can imagine, astrologers the world over (especially American Democrats) were having conniptions about President Obama being sworn in under this Moon.

But do you remember what happened? He very conveniently flubbed his lines and had to do the swearing-in again later, in the Oval Office! And when that occurred, the Moon was no longer Void of Course. (It should be noted that Mr. Obama has never confirmed or denied having an astrologer.)

Spiritual Astrology 

It’s obviously not just kings, queens, and presidents who can benefit from astrology.

Astrology is a trustworthy pathway to self-discovery for all. Through astrology, you can understand your personality, relationships, moods, energy cycles, and even your life purpose. Astrology is aligned with all religious and spiritual paths, as it’s a time-honored tradition for unlocking your Book of Life.

Some Christians have been raised to fear astrology, and we completely respect everyone’s religious beliefs. It’s interesting to note that many believe that the Three Wise Men in the Bible were actually astrologers themselves! They were, of course, following the Star of Bethlehem. In 1600, Johannes Kepler, a key figure in the 17th-century scientific revolution, hypothesized that this star was actually a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. It is postulated that these three astrologers were guided by God to honor Jesus’s birth.

In ancient Babylon, it was common for the study of celestial movements (astronomy) to be combined with professions such as medicine, the priesthood, and teaching.

Moreover, although some in the church now take a dim view of astrology, many ancient synagogues and churches feature magnificent ceiling and floor mosaics and designs depicting the 12 signs of the zodiac. For example, there is San Miniato in Florence, Italy, the most famous astrology church in Europe. This beautiful basilica and its 13th-century astrological floor feature a stunning mix of astrological and Christian symbolism, as was commonplace in medieval times before the church seemingly changed its mind about the ancient practice of astrology, which honors the heavens and the seasons.

There’s even some reason to believe that Jesus himself may have been trained in astrology.

One of the roles of Chaldean priests at the time of Christ’s birth was to find children born under significant astrological alignments, such as the Jupiter/Saturn Star of Bethlehem. The magi would leave gifts with the parents to help pay for the raising of the children, and then seek out the brightest of these young ones for a Chaldean education once they were old enough.

If you’re familiar with the Bible, you know that there’s a significant period of Jesus’s life—from birth to about 18 years old—which isn’t accounted for. Some believe that during this time, Jesus was receiving the best education that his era had to offer: magi training, which included getting a working knowledge of astrology, as well as the healing arts. Many believe that Jesus was the greatest healer to have ever lived, but was he also an astrologer?

In his book The Secret Zodiac, author Fred Gettings writes: “The true books of the esoteric astrology of the mediaeval era are not to be found in manuscripts, but in stone and marble of the mediaeval cathedrals and churches.”

Many astrologers who believe God intended human beings to decode the Heavens for clues point to the passage in the Bible (Luke 21:25) where it is written that “there will be signs in sun and moon and stars.” 

Then there is the passage from the actual Creation story itself in Genesis, which seems to suggest that humans were instructed by God to look to the heavens for signs:

And God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, and let them be lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. And God made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also. (Genesis 1:14–16 RSV; emphasis added).
