Is He Really The One? (And why you should stop caring) - SW

How do you know he is the one?

As a Love Coach who is all about love, men and relationships I’m often asked about how to make sure that the guy you’ve just met or have been with for a while is really The One.

So let’s talk about that for a while, shall we, flower?

You see, there’s lots of articles and tips that will tell you what your Prince Charming should and shouldn’t look like or what he should and shouldn’t have, including some pretty funny typologies like ‘briefs vs. boxers guys’.

But not all of these tips always leave you laughing. Like the other day when I red that you should rate every ‘bed performance’ of your man of a scale from 0 to 10. Does he ever score under 7? Then it’s serious trouble and you should really start thinking about breaking up, hon (Yes, I’ve actually really red that somewhere)!

OK, let’s say my disagreement with this kind of logic is just one opinion out of many. But let me turn things around a bit and instead of asking whether he is The One, let me raise a different question…

Why do you need to know in the first place? Does it really matter?!

My answer is NO!

Why? Because when HE finally appears, you simply KNOW it’s HIM.

I know it sounds like a total Hollywood cliché but clichés can be true, darling!

Just like sometimes you meet someone who for whatever reason drives you nuts even though, he or she is actually quite a nice person (at least everyone else thinks so!), you can also meet somebody who you know to be absolutely perfect when you look into his eyes. Perfect for you.

The question whether he’s The One or not then naturally disappears as there’s no point in asking anymore.

You know it with your entire being and there’s no space for doubt.

It can be a beautiful and yet, quite a lonely feeling sometimes because only a few people understand. The rest is telling you that you’re crazy and naive… That it’s just your hormones or whatever and that we shall all see how this is gonna end up in a few years time.

And here is what you tell them.

Who cares?!

Because really… Who cares, hon?! Are you worried that the man you will meet or who you might even already live and have kids with, isn’t actually The One?

So what?! It’s not the end of the world!

I mean, of course you’d like to spend the rest of your life with someone who is perfect but what if being perfect means something different in different times?

Every time you fall in love with a guy it means that he has something you’re currently looking for. Are you still going to be looking for the same thing 10 years later? Maybe yes and maybe not. And that’s OK!

The only thing that matters is that he’s The One RIGHT NOW!

You’ll have plenty of time to think about why he might NOT be the right guy later on if the situation ever arises.

You see, we often forget that every emotion and every experience we go through is always real and true no matter how much it changes over time.

The fact that you don’t want to be with someone anymore doesn’t really change anything about the happiness you have once brought to each other, does it, panda bear? And guess what?! It’s the happy moments that really matter!

So let me ask you.

Are you happy with someone?

Yes? Yeeeey! Then simply BE HAPPY! Because it doesn’t matter what’s gonna happen tomorrow! Enjoy the feeling, enjoy the energy! Indulge in it because that’s what it’s all about!

And if the answer is no… Then ask yourself, what would someone who loves herself do?
