Roll call! Cinderella, Ariel, Jasmine, Snow White. These feisty Princesses are more than just your fantasy fairytales that you may have enthusiastically watched as a child. They may additionally all be present in each and every one of us girls when you stop and really think about it. These originally popular Disney Princesses all have something special in common, and while you may initially think that these female protagonists may get a bad rap for appearing too perfect, innocent, or desiring frenetically for their fellow princes, in actuality, they clearly embody truth and joy in all of their unique ways. These Princesses all contribute to a collective background of living life in an honest and positive way, one that we girls could easily admire and strive to exemplify. The lessons that each Princess teaches us can change our world for the better, and if we really listen, have some patience, and pay attention, we can learn to be better human beings every day. After all, as Cinderella’s Fairy God Mother once said:”Even miracles take a little time.”

Ariel awakens to the journey of her destiny

When it comes down to really going after all that your heart desires, Ariel is your girl. She fell in love with a human so she was willing to do everything in her power to get to him. This shows a rebellion streak but in the right manner. She was a determined soul. Ariel is the Little Mermaid, but she is not little at all. She has a big sense of self as she believed in herself enough to go after what she wanted. Her graceful curiosity encouraged her passion to thrive. This passion would catapult her to a whole new world, the world above hers, literally and figuratively. In addition, remember she was collecting all of those human things way down hidden in her undisclosed cavern (the infamous fork/hair comb)? Well, this shows her devotion and appreciation for all things human. For all us girls, it is our job to fulfill our hearts desire, and to go after it with gusto. Like Ariel, let us all awaken with our own journeys and passions and live with that positive mindset every day.

Cinderella chooses to be kind every day

Cinderella is the epitome of the perfect princess, and fear not, us girls can accompany her on the journey to bliss and delight, as long as we have our favorite glass slippers on! Cinderella is very keen on her priorities. She listens to her step mother and follows her orders explicitly well. Her obedience is truly unsurpassed. She does not complain. This lesson is one that we must all acquire to live up to. We are girls, and we sometimes like to complain when things do not go our way. But that really does not get us anywhere. So, let us not complain, and instead, let us strive to be better and do better. Cinderella was busy all day but even that did not stop her from being happy and singing her songs. Her patience and kindness to animals shows us all that we can get stronger and grow from all our challenges in life. Remember all those little clothes that she knitted for her lovely mice, well that shows that she cared for animals and that the little things are what really matter. We can take that lesson to spend more time with our family, help others out when they need it, like volunteer at the homeless shelter. Think like Cinderella does and be kind along your journey.

Jasmine determinedly joins her soul mate even though they are worlds apart

“If I do marry, I want it to be for love.”
―Princess Jasmine

Jasmine is different from all the other Princesses, because in a way she is currently in a royal position. Her life seems to be complete. However, when you look beyond all of the material possessions, you come to realize that money and fame does not make you happy in the least. Jasmine is a strong-minded soul who needs to find something in life that makes her feel free and content. Like her, we girls can relate. We want to be free, feel like our minds are alert and awakened, and stand on our own two feet without others making decisions for us. Jasmine looks deep inside her heart and formulates an inference that her happiness should be reflected through love. She then acquires a journey experiencing love the way she sees fit. It may not be understood by everyone but once her father sees her light and happiness, he begins to understand too. As girls, we have the right to search for what makes us happy, in a resolute way. That is our soul’s right. So let us all continue to act like Jasmine and learn to be independent and strong as an individual, and speak our minds where we see fit.

Snow White surrounds herself with positive people

“Lips red as the rose. Hair black as ebony. Skin white as snow.”
―The Magic Mirror describing Snow White

Snow White has a truly unique sense of nature. Her personality is sublimely elegant, to the point where all of the animals continually surround her every time she opens her mouth to sing one of her beautifully delicately portrayed songs. Her inner beauty sparkles through her voice and her eyes. She may appear to be quiet and innocent and lacking in life experience, but she makes up big time in her level of optimism, which encourages her life journey. In addition, Snow White is as pure as the phrase itself. She is the fairest Princess and one who sees no evil. She sees only the good in people, including the seven dwarfs who tend to complain about everything, as well as her jealous Stepmother the Queen (disguised as an old lady who gave her a poisonous apple). She showed the dwarfs the way to clean, cook, and live life with the positive mindset that she does with dignity and integrity. She is an old-fashioned kind of Princess, and one who faithfully pursues her journey to meet her prince. She may have been a bit lonely like so many of us girls are today. We sometimes feel like nobody understands us, and we desperately desire to feel that love and connection. Like Snow White, we may also yearn for that special somebody who will make up happy and make all our dreams come true. But for now, let’s sing to the animals, learn how to cook and clean for our benefit, and enjoy the nature in our long and graceful dress.

So there you have it ladies! There is nothing wrong with being a true Disney Princess, because true Princesses have nothing to hide. Each described Disney Princess ultimately transcends most character traits out there in the animated television world series. In essence, these mysteriously gracious Princesses share a universal set of character qualities including: transformation, loyalty, inner beauty, and fairness. They are unmistakably and unapologetically opened to life, change, happiness, and success. They are each aware of their passions and they continue to thrive and feel within their hearts the truth of their souls. Their kindness opens the doors for all humanity, and we girls would be wise to listen and consider these positive traits in an effort to make our lives whole again.
